What Am I Waiting For?

To go to the farm. It is a rainy Saturday here in IL. Should stop by tomorrow afternoon. Wisconsin is getting an icy/rain/snow mix though. Tomorrow they might get 2-4 inches of snow. So I'm watching the weather up there & will have to wait & see what Monday morning brings. Steve's in Montana this week skiing so I'm going to the farm on a solo run (well, my cat Mia is going too). This is a test for me. I haven't driven all the way up by myself for a long time. For those of you new to the blog, we had a car accident 7 months ago & I have some emotional scars that haven't healed. But I really, really want to go. So we'll see how it is. I want to leave Monday morning so I miss the rush hour traffic in Rockford & Madison. Those are the busiest parts of the drive. I know I can do it. I just have to remember to "breathe". :-)
What are my plans for the week at the farm? Nothing solid. Take it as it goes. I'm bringing books, my knitting, the garden planner, camera...If I get a nice day or two, I'll be outside trimming apple trees. And then there is catching up with the neighbors. They probably wonder where we've been for the last couple weekends.
I'll keep you posted on the weather...

Oh, a week to yourself. I'm envious. I'm sure you can do the drive. Have faith in yourself and yes, breathe!!

Hi Barb and Steve, thanks for joining us over at Healthy Harvest. Our son lives in the Chicago area, and Rick is from WI so we have something else in common! He's gotten used to gardening 12 months of the year down here. Hope your drive to the snowy farm goes well.

We are also vegetarian with macrobiotic leanings(although most of the Healthy Harvesters are not, as it's a big Texas ranch culture in the Frio Canyon). I have been a vegetarian almost my entire life and attribute my good health to it too. I look forward to exploring your blog and getting to know you both.

Barb, you will do great on the driveto the farm. If you start feeling yourself getting frazzled, start counting by 2's or 3's to 100. It makes you concentrate and you'll be amazed at how well it works. It was a life saver for me.
Imagine yourself all cozy by the fire with little Mia snooping all around. You'll have such fun...debbie

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I'm watching the weather closely up there & it doesn't look too promising for a trip tomorrow morning. Dry roads are one thing...snow & ice covered is another.:-)

Hi Barb - Did you go? How did Mia do? I drove in the sheeting downpour yesterday - it was pretty unnerving. The whole time I was thinking to myself - I wish I was in Wisc. (Although I was going for a farm fix - to Garfield Farm Museum - so almost as good.) Hope all is well.

Hi Angie..I am sitting here trying to decide if I am going or not. I think "not" is winning. I've been checking road conditions & it says icy spots. They had a lot of freezing rain yesterday.
How was Garfield Farm?

Hi Barb.... thanks for stopping by and commenting on my newest blog, 'Nickel Cherry Coke'. You had asked about my eldest brother.... actually Gary passed away at the age of 11 from Hodkins Lymphoma. But.... I know that had he survived that he WOULD still be the boss as he had a strong personality. That was waaaaaay back in 1963. Thanks for asking though!

Hugs at ya,
Di
