As It Stands, 3.8 Magnitude

Here I sit, typing groggily from being up since 4 am this morning. Just couldn't get back to sleep after the earthquake. My "fight or flight" response kicked into high gear & sleep was impossible. I made it into work but wasn't too productive and foresee an early bedtime tonight. I do have a new product to offer though. It is an earthquake sensing device. No batteries required. Runs on moist organic cat food & daily brushings. Can also be used as a spot heater for your bed. Makes a "god-awful" noise right before an earthquake hits to warn you of the pending shaking you will feel. Some motor noise may be detected in the form of purring. Side effects may include love of cats, allergies or an occasional fur ball. Will clone to suit.

Animals are the best for alerts! Our dogs would howl and just get almost frantic to be outside, birds would screech and scream. Totally different behavior than yo will ever see or hear...unless it happens again!

Yes cats and dogs are what I look at when weather is going to happen..You don't need dopplers or anything like that..just watch your animals...they sense danger..they will also sense when your not feeling well..Love my animals...we didn't feel anything here. Get some sleep...Lisa

We've only had a few quakes but dogs and cats and even birds do act odd.

I'm sure your little furry friend could feel something that you couldn't and when the real deal hit, she didn't like it once bit and was probably scared to death!! Poor little thing. She is cute. It is quite odd, that there was an earthquake in that area of the states. You wouldn't think any earth would be moving there!...debbie

Good Kitty! I agree, If my cats or dogs make any sudden movement when it seems things are calm I become very alert.

I'm originally from CA and have lived in Nebraska for 17 years now. You just don't think of earth quakes in the midwest! I have lived through quite a few and they can be quite scary. We had one when my youngest was 2 years old... he called them earth "quicks"! Our animals always gave us fair warning when we were about to have one. Hope there won't be anymore for the midwest!
