The neighbor that picked up Lizzie today told me Petry is digging more holes on the property next to theirs. I needed to go to town, so I took a detour & got some shots of them doing it. If you look at the map, the property is the one furthest south. The neighbor's property is surrounded on 2 sides by it.
They looked like they were on the eighth hole when I drove by.
I stopped and talked to another neighbor (I'm meeting so many nice new people), and she said they are looking for good clay soil for the site. So lets all hope for lots of rocks (and a few sink holes while we're at it).

Oh dear. If they are digging holes already then that must be the site. This is terrible for you. I will pray for rocks and sink holes for sure. Such beautiful land only to be ruined by pee and poop of 3200 cattle. What a CRIME...debbie
Wait a minute...wasn't this being put on some kind of hold? I know they've tabled the research, but I didn't realize this was a go-ahead..Gah! How frustrating!
Well I don't know too much about the soil around you, but where my husband is from in Iowa, there was always a LOT of rocks... everytime we go back home, we haul some from Grandpa's pile. We just don't get cool rocks like that in Kansas. Anyway, hoping for rocks, sink holes or whatever will make them go away - but I wish they wouldn't go anywhere else either. :(
I feel so sorry for anyone who has to live by something like this! It is such pretty land too! What a shame!!!!! I will pray for anything that will make them go away! I agree... I wouldn't want them to go anywhere else either!!! UGH... Ic an't evenimaginee the smell and destruction to the area! I am sooo sorry for you!
Something appears fishy...why table it one day and then let them go and drill the next - why not tell y'all AT the meeting regarding the tabling.
Sounds like the CAFO got to someone, in a big way.
Bah! I hate politics and human nature sometimes.
I´m hoping for a lot of sinkholes :-)
Christer.
They go around & test the soils on the properties first then apply for the permit specific to that property if I understand right.
