Garage Doors Ordered

These are the garage doors we ordered last Saturday morning. http://www.amarr.com/residential/browse_material/steel/classica/style_guide/s2.html?dir=single
We really like the crossbuck design & think it will go well with the look of the barn. We are working with Doug Swenson at Swenson's Doors in Viroqua. A really nice guy just like all the business people we've met here so far. They even throw in a key pad. It takes about 3 weeks to get them so we have until then to do some framing around the door openings we have now. Can't wait to get them installed. It will change the whole look of the barn. (And make it more weather tight). We still need to replace the entry door in front that goes into the laundry area but will try to get that done before the weather changes too.

It will look so much different in a few weeks!

Gorgeous. Although I think what you have now is pretty spanky too! :D

Looks great! And notice that you are doing some solar too. If I were building again, I'd want solar panels.

I love your barn and am soooo jealous! The barn on our property was torn down years before we lived here. Sniff. Happy for you, though. Maybe someday, I'll have a Big Red Barn like you. How fun!! And hello! :)

Steve,
I'm not quite sure how this blog works, but Schildgen sent me the address. So your trying to get off the grid. That's cool. We do what we can for the "green movement", but I know we could do more. Good to see your doing well and keeping up the effort. How do I know if you received this?

Hi! I know your friend Pam (she's my hygienist for many years now!), and I've been reading your blog for a little while without commenting (sorry about that!). I'm envious of your lifestyle, to say the least! Anyhow, I'm refinishing the basement of our house and we've been researching looking for sliding barn doors and the hardware to put up exactly what you're replacing. I have two questions: first, are you parting with either of those doors with the sliding rail system, because we're in the market, and if not then second, do you know anywhere to buy that type of hardware? We aren't looking for fancy "New York Loft" style, or their prices... and we're finding it impossible to find reasonably priced, utilitarian type barn door systems! I know that rural farmers aren't using this fancy stuff I see online.

Either way, I wanted you to know how much I enjoy your blog and what you're doing up there across the border!

I promise to comment more often going forward.
