Sunflowers

I grew sunflowers for the first time this year. Two different kinds. One kind produced seeds with shells & the other without.

I was afraid the birds would get them before I did. I kept waiting for them to be ready to harvest. The day finally came...or I thought it did. This one was picked a little too early I think. There are no black stripes on the seeds.

One sunflower head produces a huge amount of seed.

This is a large Tupperware bowl with all the seeds that were harvested. I will do a quality control check & then soak the seeds overnight in salt water & bake.
