Another Busy Day

Mia being Lazy

The day started out foggy again but the sun showed up around ten. I was anxious to get out in the garden to weed but I ended up cleaning inside & waiting for the plumbers to show up. They were about an hour late. Then we talked about what needed to be done and I headed outside. I am determined to uncover all the strawberries that are buried in weeds. Like up to my thighs weeds. Yesterday I got through about half of them and the blueberry bushes & today I almost finished. We need to get them as weed free as possible before it's time to cover them with straw. Won't be long before frost, unfortunately. And then there's the garlic. I also need to clear a spot in the garden for my moocho varieties I have to plant this fall. I figure I have until the beginning of November to finish all the projects. We aren't going to be up here part of October. We'll be taking a vacation to Oregon to visit Steve's brother & family. They live in Corvalis. A trip to the coast is planned which I am very excited about! I've only seen it in the dark :-). Since we will be flying into Portland, we'll be spending a day walking around & going to Powell's Books. It's a huge used book store. I could spend a whole day in there!

The first weekend in November will be my daughter's baby shower at my niece's house. She is doing great. The baby is kicking her now & her husband felt it for the first time yesterday. Can't wait to see that little granddaughter.

Before I came in for the night, I picked cherry tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, squash & dug potatoes. I still have a lot of potatoes to dig but my back said forget it.

So tonight, I'm drinking a smoothy & catching up on blogs. Then to bed & a few chapters of Terry Tempest-Williams book "An Unspoken Hunger". Tomorrow the electrician will be here...

A good thing with weeds that big is that they usually are easy to get rid of and one can see the result fast :-)

It was a long time since I was by the cost. I love to stand by the ocean and listen to the sound of the waves and smell that special scent of ocean!
Have a great day now!
Christer.

We found our blueberries a few weeks ago. They were at least as bad as you describe- if not worse. I haven't had the courage to look for the strawberries yet. They were pretty savaged by deer when we first planted them and then the grass took them. One of the problems with working a plot for the very first time ever is lots of weeds.
I hope you get lots accomplished.

Mia looks so comfy. I have to give you credit for doing your gardening. I hate to garden and I really wish that I liked it. At the end of the growing season everything just goes to pot around here.

Have fun in Oregon! It's a great place to visit. Not that I'm biased or anything. :)

Thanks for the well wishes about the weeds :-)
Christer, thanks about the new header. It was taken in a valley near here.
Mia is a "slug" kitty sometimes. Don't you wish we could all sleep, eat & play whenever we want?
Oregon should be fun! We will enjoy it. Thanks!
